Directions to Our Practice
If you’ve never been to our Melbourne practice before, here are two easy routes you could take:
- Head south out of town on I-95, then exit at Eau Gallie Blvd heading east. When that starts curving, turn right onto Sarno Rd, then right again onto Wickham Rd. Stay on that for 3/4 of a mile, then watch for us coming up on your left at 1061 S Wickham Rd.
- Exit I-95 at Ellis Rd instead (also heading east). Follow that all the way to Wickham Rd, then turn right and you’ll find us at 1061 S.
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Viera is a thriving community that was developed by the Viera Company, a subsidiary of A. Duda and Sons, and it has its roots deeply embedded in the historical Cocoa Ranch. Officially breaking ground on August 4, 1989, this unincorporated area was named ‘Viera,’ a Slovak word for ‘faith,’ to honor the family patriarch, Andrew Duda, who immigrated to the United States from what is now Slovakia in 1912.
Since the early 1990s, the Duda family has transformed this land into a dynamic area featuring a diverse mix of residential options, commercial spaces, medical and industrial parks, shopping centers, and abundant recreational facilities. Todd Pokrywa took the helm as President of The Viera Company on September 1, 2018, continuing to guide the community’s development.
The initial development phase, known as Viera East, was set into motion in 1990, covering approximately 3,000 acres. The expansion continued in 1995 with an additional 6,000 acres approved by Brevard County, leading to further enhancements and growth of the community.
A significant part of the expansion includes the Viera Wilderness Park, a massive 5,112-acre area designated for conservation and recreational use, which complements the adjacent 44,000-acre River Lakes Conservation Area. This area integrates parts of the former Cocoa Ranch, emphasizing Viera’s commitment to preserving over half of the expansion territory as managed protected land, conservation areas, and public parks, ensuring a balance between development and natural preservation.
